Dorjey Spalzes, a determined mother of five from Ladakh's remote Lakjung village, transformed her life through the power of sea buckthorn. Like many in her community, she struggled with seasonal income gaps as farming and tourism work couldn't sustain her family year-round. Her breakthrough came when she joined Aide-et-Action's entrepreneurship program, learning to process sea buckthorn into value-added products like juices, jams, and cookies. Through intensive training in business development, financial management, and digital skills, Dorjey gained the tools to launch her own enterprise.
Today, as a proud member of the Riyul Seabuckthorn Cooperative Society, Dorjey represents a new generation of Ladakhi women entrepreneurs. Her successful transition from subsistence farming to running a sustainable business has not only secured her family's future but also created opportunities for her entire community.
